LA VERACRUZANA'S HAS PARTNERED WITH CLEAN WATER ACTION RETHINK DISPOSABLE
EASTHAMPTON, AMHERST, NORTHAMPTON: For Earth Day, the restaurants La Veracruzana and POH-keh Bowl are teaming up to fight plastic pollution by replacing their disposable take-out containers with sustainable returnable containers in partnership with Clean Water Action. The restaurants are the latest partners with Clean Water’s ReThink Disposable campaign which provides reusable dining ware and technical expertise to eateries and institutions willing to replace single-use disposable items like utensils, bowls, and take-out containers with durable reusables.
“We’re at a crisis point with plastic pollution and waste, not only in Massachusetts, but worldwide. Landfills and incinerators pollute neighboring communities and are often in overburdened neighborhoods. Rather than looking for new spaces to burn and bury our trash, we’re modeling a new solution: make less trash in the first place,” saidAmber Schmidt, Clean Water Action’s Zero Waste Specialist.
